Vehicle owners to pay more for fuel in May

Written by on April 28, 2024

The Ministry of Mines and Energy has announced a fuel price increase of 70 cents per litre of petrol and 40 cents per litre of diesel, with effect from Thursday (2 May).

The new fuel prices at Walvis Bay will be N$23 per litre of petrol, N$22,17 per litre of diesel 50ppm and N$22,37 per litre of diesel 10ppm.

Fuel prices in other parts of Namibia will be adjusted accordingly, with the National Energy Fund absorbing the remaining under-recoveries to alleviate the burden on consumers, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said under-recoveries were recorded on both petrol and diesel products during April.

“The under-recoveries amount to 123,567 cents per litre of petrol, 60,214 cents per litre of diesel 50ppm, and 51,208 cents per litre of diesel 10ppm,” the ministry stated.

The price of petrol was increased by N$1,52 and the price of diesel rose by 72 cents in Namibia on 3 April.
