Vehicle of dead Windhoek woman found at Rundu

Written by on April 30, 2024

A vehicle belonging to Windhoek resident Delia Maasdorp (40), who was found dead in her home on Sunday, was found abandoned at a service station at Rundu on Tuesday morning.

According to the police’s crime investigations coordinator in Kavango East, deputy commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, a suspect who is still at large, Wentzel Maasdorp, was seen entering the service station at Rundu before he vanished.

The vehicle, as well as a flat screen television, laptop and iPhone, were missing from Delia Maasdorp’s flat in Klein Windhoek when her body was discovered wrapped in blankets in her home.

Kanyetu said Wentzel Maasdorp “fled Rundu and was last seen at a service station at Otjiwarongo jumping out of another vehicle around 12h00 today [Tuesday]”.

Police spokesperson Elifas Kuwinga earlier reported that Delia Maasdorp’s parents tried to contact her on Friday, but could not find her, which resulted in them requesting one of her friends to check in on her.

The incident was reported to the police and a missing person report was filed.

The police accompanied the friend to Delia Maasdorp’s flat and communicated with the flats’ body corporate, who opened a window to enter the flat, Kuwinga said.

He also reported that police officers observed blood stains on a sofa in the flat.
