SSC commits to sanitation projects

Written by on May 16, 2024

Social Security Commission (SSC) chief executive Milka Mungunda says the commission is committed to projects improving the lives of ordinary Namibians.

She said this at the launch of the water and sanitation project at Berseba in the //Kharas region on Thursday.

“This project is an excellent example of the transformative potential of strategic investment in water and sanitation infrastructure. It has an approved budget of N$2,5 million, of which N$999 269 has already been disbursed,” she said.

Mungunda outlined goals, which include building pit latrines, installing solar water pumps, and reviving water point committees.

“We support the Social Security Commission’s social protection mandate and promote sustainable development in the area by creating jobs and means of subsistence,” Mungunda said.

She said the project’s success depends not only on how it is carried out, but also on how well the communities it serves are supported and managed.

“Let’s make a commitment to protect and preserve these resources for upcoming generations,” Mungunda said.
