Political analyst questions handling of parliament’s opening day
September 2, 2026
Political analyst Sakaria Johannes has criticised the handling of parliament’s opening session, following a confrontation between Affirmative Repositioning leader Job Amupanda and National Assembly speaker Sarah Kugongelwa-Amadhila. Sakaria says the incident, together with the opposition walkout over the proposed appointment of the Electoral Commission of Namibia chairperson, raises concerns about parliament’s ability to conduct business effectively and allow members of parliament to represent their constituents.
