July 31, 2026

[PODCAST]

The chairperson of the National Council standing committee on health, social welfare and labour affairs, Joseph Sivako, has warned that substance abuse is escalating among primary school pupils across Namibia.

Speaking to Desert FM after a countrywide fact-finding mission, Sivako called for stronger legislation, legislative decentralisation, and police involvement to protect pupils and restore order in schools.

This comes after members of parliament called for an urgent ban on vaping in schools.
