Matti Amukwa says Government must balance fairness and sustainability in fishing industry
We are turning our focus to Namibia’s fishing industry one of the backbone sectors of our economy and a vital source of jobs and livelihoods for many coastal communities. The government has recommitted itself to ensuring fairness, sustainability, and stronger regulation in the industry, vowing to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, while also protecting jobs and livelihoods.
But what does this mean in practice for operators, workers, and the sector at large? To unpack this, we’re joined by the chairperson of the Confederation of Namibian Fishing Associations, Matti Amukwa.
