The Namibian police have reported two separate cases of women who were murdered over the weekend.

This was announced in the weekend crime report by national police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi on Sunday.

According to Shikwambi, a woman (39) was allegedly shot and killed by her boyfriend at Havana’s Ongos residential area on Friday, while in a separate case, the body of another woman (41) was found in a riverbed at Okahandja.

According to Shikwambi, the Havana incident occurred at about 13h00 on Peter Enias Nanyemba Street.

“It is alleged that an adult, Namibian suspect shot and killed his girlfriend (38) with a pistol following a history of domestic abuse,” she says.

Shikwambi says the woman died at the scene, and the suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations are continuing.

In a separate incident, the body of a Namibian woman was discovered in a riverbed at Okahandja at about 08h40 on Friday.

“It is alleged that the body of a Namibian woman (41) was discovered by a member of the community in the riverbed,” the police say.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed, while police investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death continue.
