Internships should bridge education and employment – youth leader

Youth leader Donna Gamatham says internships in Namibia should serve as a bridge between education and employment, rather than becoming a source of cheap labour. She says young graduates often accept poor internship conditions because high unemployment leaves them with little bargaining power, and has called for clearer standards on internship duration, supervision, working hours, allowances and responsibilities.
