Herbert Jauch on delayed grant payments by Ministry of Gender

The Ministry of Gender has announced that grant recipients will be able to collect their grants tomorrow through Nampost, following a delay caused by technical glitches.
However, Namibia’s vulnerable households are facing increasingly difficult times as the country continues to struggle with a crippling drought. At the same time, the US government, through an executive order, has cut funding to the World Food Program, even as more than 30 million people in Southern Africa are projected to experience food insecurity this year.
While Namibia has managed to fund its school feeding program, the Ministry has highlighted a significant gap, with only 181,000 out of the 497,000 children who were supposed to receive meals benefiting from the initiative.
Given these challenges, is it time to reconsider the current grant system? To help unpack this issue, we were joined by Herbert Jauch, a proponent of the Universal Income Grant.
