Northern business owners mourn Indji

Written by on April 23, 2024

Well-known banking executive and former Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry northern branch chairperson Thomas Indji (44) died on Tuesday morning at a Windhoek hospital.

His death was confirmed by his widow Iyaloo Shiimi-Iindji, who says her late husband died following hospitalisation.

“Further announcements will be communicated in due course,” she says.

Indji, who worked in the banking industry for 20 years, was the head of banking at First National Bank Namibia and later became the head of business and commercial banking at Standard Bank in February this year.

It is alleged that Indji complained of not feeling well during his recent public engagement at the Ondangwa Town Council Gala Dinner, where he was officiating as the pledge master.

Businessman David Sheehama describes the late Iindji as a people’s person, who helped others to become successful business people.

Ondangwa business guru Paavo Amwele says he is shattered by the passing of such an excellent banker.

“He helped us from the bottom, until we became successful business owners. Every business you see growing in the north, it was because of that man,” Amwele says.
