NAC to host aviation leaders in Windhoek

Written by on June 11, 2024

The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) will host a three-day meeting of global aviation industry leaders in Windhoek from 19 to 21 June.

According to a statement issued by NAC spokesperson Dan Kamati, the Aviation Development (AviaDev) Africa Conference, will bring together influential stakeholders, including officials from airlines, airports, tourism boards, government and industry experts, to foster collaboration, forge strategic partnerships and explore opportunities that will deliver new air routes across Africa.

More than 35 airlines and 400 participants (the highest number ever for an AviaDev conference) have confirmed participation at the event which is expected to create a conducive environment for aviation professionals to network, exchange ideas and collaborate on innovative strategies that drive sustainable air connectivity.

Deputy prime minister and minister of works and transport John Mutorwa will officiate the opening ceremony.

The conference supports the Yamoussoukro Decision towards a Single Air Transport Market in Africa and pursues partnerships that will assist in carving out new opportunities for the continent’s aviation development and progress.

NAC says air travel is critical to the company’s success because it creates previously untapped opportunities. Giving a boost to the growth and development of Africa’s aviation industry is one of the continent’s most critical regional integration drivers.

“Better connected African countries and regions through a successful air transport industry can be a driver for increased commerce, trade, tourism and cultural exchange, which is what we all live for,” said NAC chief executive Bisey /Uirab.

Namibia is a rapidly growing tourism destination, with a diverse range of attractions to offer visitors, including the Namib Desert, the Skeleton Coast and the Etosha National Park.

The Namibia Tourism Board will host the networking welcome reception on 19 June in Windhoek, while the NAC and the Namibia Civil Aviation Authority will host the gala dinner at a local hotel later on the same day. – email: matthew@namibian.com.na
