John-Louw Mouton calls for longer Parliament sittings to clear legislative backlog

Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) member of parliament John-Louw Mouton is calling for Parliament to extend its sitting hours to address the growing backlog of bills, motions and parliamentary questions. Mouton says while improving the efficiency of parliamentary proceedings should remain the priority, the National Assembly should also make greater use of existing rules to hold additional sittings when necessary. He says legislation that directly improves the lives of Namibians should take priority over bills that simply centralise power.
