Journalism awards celebrate excellence amid industry challenges

The Editors’ Forum of Namibia (EFN) says this year’s journalism awards will celebrate excellence while highlighting the vital role journalists play in protecting the country’s democracy.
Speaking ahead of the 2026 awards, EFN chairperson Toivo Ndjebela said the awards recognise journalists who go beyond the call of duty to keep the public informed, despite the challenges facing the profession. He also acknowledged that the media industry remains underfunded and stressed the need for newsrooms to adapt to rapid technological change to remain sustainable.
