Midwives call for better support amid staff shortages

Midwifery lecturer and Independent Midwives Association of Namibia member Annaloice Penduka says Namibian midwives are battling staff shortages, burnout, and poor working conditions despite playing a critical role in maternal healthcare.
Penduka says the profession needs better support, improved remuneration, and stronger representation in healthcare decision-making as the country reflects on the International Day of the Midwife.
