Global civil rights icon Jesse Jackson remembered for anti-apartheid solidarity

Tributes are pouring in following the death of American civil rights leader Jesse Jackson at the age of 84, with Namibian leaders honouring his role in the global struggle for justice and his support for Swapo during the liberation struggle years, including a 1990 visit to Windhoek, where he was received by founding president Sam Nujoma. Speaking on Desert FM, The Namibian founder and former editor Gwen Lister reflected on Jackson’s life, legacy and personal connection to Namibia.
