Lüderitz water crisis raises health and dignity concerns

Residents of informal settlements in Lüderitz say the high cost and limited access to water have forced some people to fetch drinking water from public toilets, a situation linked to the rollout of prepaid water meters in areas like Amilema and Area 7, which are home to over 12 000 people.

Speaking on Desert FM, Lüderitz Town Council spokesperson Elwin !Gaoseb responded to the concerns and outlined the council’s position on water access and service delivery.
