Election-day public holiday raises concerns

Next Wednesday has officially been declared a public holiday to allow Namibians to vote in the regional council and local authority elections. While the government says this will support voter turnout, Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters has raised concerns about the economic impact, while the Landless People’s Movement (LPM) has highlighted deeper issues within the Electoral Commission of Namibia itself.
