Nestor Kalola: Splitting rural constituencies into smaller segments will boost access to services
September 4, 2025
Community leaders in constituencies such as Mukwe in the Kavango East region, Okavango East, and Samora Machel in Khomas have proposed that these vast constituencies be divided into two or three. Their argument is that the smaller the constituencies become, the more accessible services will be to the people. In the case of Mukwe, the constituency stretches over 140 kilometres, making it difficult for residents especially those in remote villages to access services.
To help us better understand the concerns and perspectives on this issue, we’re joined by the constituency councillor for Samora Machel, Nestor Kalola.
