Borro Ndungula discusses the decriminilisation of cannabis on religious and medical grounds
July 3, 2025
We focus on a highly debated issue that’s gained traction across the country: the legal status of cannabis in Namibia.
At the heart of the conversation is a constitutional case brought forward by Ganja Users of Namibia (GUN), calling for the decriminalisation of cannabis on religious and medicinal grounds. Represented by lawyer Kadhila Amoomo, GUN argues that the current legislation is outdated and infringes on human rights — while government lawyers say the matter is too complex and still under review by the Law Reform and Development Commission (LRDC).
Joining us to discuss the background of this case and the lived realities behind the legal battle is Borro Ndungula, co-founder of Ganja Users of Namibia.
