Sebastian Ndeitunga unpacks his retirement from public service
July 1, 2025
The Ohangwena regional governor, Lieutenant-General (retired) Sebastian Ndeitunga, has officially retired from public service, marking the end of his term in office on 30 June 2025.
Ndeitunga, who served just over a year and a half as governor, confirmed his exit on Monday, saying, “Today is my last day in office. I’m going home.”
A decorated former combatant of the People’s Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN), Ndeitunga previously held the position of Inspector-General of the Namibian Police Force from 2005 until his initial retirement in 2022.
But in November 2023, his retirement was cut short when the late President Hage Geingob appointed him as Ohangwena’s regional governor.
