Rodney Hoaeb addresses Namibias first export consignment under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
July 1, 2025
After years of preparations, Namibia finally launched its first export consignment under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework on 30 June 2025.
The milestone marks a major step in deepening Namibia’s trade integration across Africa, unlocking access to a market of over 1.3 billion people. However, only one company—the Walvis Bay Salt Company—participated in the inaugural consignment, raising concerns over private sector readiness and interest.
Joining us is Rodney Hoaeb, Acting CEO of the Namibia Trade Forum (NTF), to unpack both the promise and the worrying gaps in Namibia’s AfCFTA journey.
