A dispute has arisen in Lüderitz over the status of Bedrock Montessori School. Mayor Phillipus Balhao claims the Ministry of Education (MEIYSAC) “closed” the school without adequate communication, despite the town’s growing educational needs.

MEIYSAC, however, denies a closure, stating the school’s registration application was denied due to an unsuitable learning environment—specifically, operating from a backyard flat with a dog, raising compliance and safety concerns.
