Benjamin Nangombe unpacks vandalism targerted at the Ruby Main Overhead Powerline

Namibia Water Corporation Ltd (NamWater) has reported a serious incident of vandalism and theft that occurred at around 23:00 on the night of 21 June 2025.
The attack targeted the Ruby Main Overhead Powerline, which supplies electricity to the Swartbank and Rooibank boreholes — key infrastructure that supports Walvis Bay’s water supply.
As a result, NamWater suffered an immediate loss of 650 cubic metres per hour from these boreholes.
