Shaun Gariseb speaks on submitting objections to the City of Windhoek’s 4% electricity tariff increase application

Leader of the Katutura Residents Association, Shaun Gariseb, says yesterday marked the final day for submitting objections to the City of Windhoek’s 4% electricity tariff increase application, which he claims was done without proper consultation.

In a letter addressed to the Electricity Control Board (ECB) this week, Gariseb argues that the City’s application should be set aside until the ongoing court case is concluded — in the same way that punishment for violating the law was previously suspended.

He warns that approving the application would amount to double jeopardy for consumers and would unfairly favour a distributor that, in his view, shows no respect for the law or the authority of the ECB.
