PDM fights Baster community’s lockout

POPULAR Democratic Movement leader McHenry Venaani is set to re-introduce a motion of recognising the Baster Traditional Authority. This comes almost two years after he introduced the same bill to parliament before it was rejected by the National Assembly.
The former official opposition leader is set to re-introduce this in parliament today. Rynault Van Wyk, the disputed kaptein candidate elect of the Baster Traditional Authority, says he appreciates the gesture but does not have much faith in terms of how far it will go.
Van Wyk’s spokesperson, Rodger Beukues, speaks to Desert FM to explain their position.
