Mahongora Kavihuha unpacks the teachers unions propose scrapping the interview process for qualified teachers
June 2, 2025
In 2025, the issue of unemployed qualified teachers in Namibia remains a pressing concern.
Despite a shortage of classrooms in several regions, many trained educators continue to struggle to secure employment.
The Namibian Unemployed Qualified Teachers Committee has proposed scrapping the interview process for qualified teachers, arguing that it fails to consider the prolonged unemployment many have endured over the years. In response to the ongoing crisis, a demonstration has been organised for tomorrow.
To discuss this further, we were joined by teacher unionist Mahongora Kavihuha.
