Rural and Urban Development Minister James Sankwasa has defended his decision to make unannounced visits to regional constituencies and local authorities, saying he does not need to schedule appointments in advance.
Sankwasa argues that notifying councillors ahead of time could give them the opportunity to conceal wrongdoing or irregularities.
His remarks came in response to criticism from Aminius constituency councillor Peter Kazongominja, who took issue with the minister’s recent surprise inspections.
