UNAM and UNICEF Join Forces to Strengthen Early Newborn Care in Namibia

The University of Namibia and UNICEF Namibia have signed a memorandum of understanding to improve early essential newborn care. Ms. Ingenesia Tjiurutue, Head of Midwifery at UNAM, explains how the partnership will equip midwives with life-saving skills, reduce preventable newborn deaths, and support Namibia’s goals under Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Agenda. She also highlights the role of research, monitoring, and family awareness in ensuring every baby gets the best start in life.
