Tangeni Nghimufevali unpacks the importance of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

May 21, 2025

[PODCAST]

Namibia joined the global community yesterday in commemorating the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, a UNESCO-led observance that celebrates the richness of the world’s cultures and underscores the critical role of intercultural dialogue in promoting peace and sustainable development.

With 89% of current global conflicts taking place in countries with low levels of intercultural dialogue, it has become increasingly clear that fostering mutual understanding across cultural lines is essential for lasting peace and effective cooperation.

To help us unpack the significance of this day and what it means for Namibia, we were joined by Tangeni Nghimufevali, Secretary General of the Indigenous Minorities Youth Organisation of Namibia (IMYON).
