Tangeni Nghimufevali provides insight allegations indigenous San members are being systematically left out of Swapo’s branch structures in Tsumkwe

[PODCAST]

Questions of inclusion, representation and respect are once again in the spotlight—this time from the San community of Tsumkwe, who say they’ve been sidelined within Swapo’s political structures despite their long-time loyalty to the party.

According to local San activist Matambo Kambila, indigenous San members are being systematically left out of Swapo’s branch structures in the constituency, even as they continue to be relied upon for votes during elections. This claim points to a deeper frustration: that the San people are being politically used but not politically included.

To respond and provide insight into these allegations, we are joined by Tangeni Nghimufevali, secretary general of the Indigenous Minorities Youth Organisation of Namibia—IMYON. We ask: Is this just local mismanagement—or a symptom of a much wider national problem?
