The minister of education, innovation, youth, sports, arts and culture, Sanet Steenkamp, yesterday visited Okahandja following a series of tragic incidents involving young girls.
Steenkamp met with the town’s mayor, Beatrice Kotungondo, to discuss the disappearance and killing of six-year-old Roslind Ndinelao Fabian, whose body was discovered on Friday, and the murder of five-year-old Ingrid Maasdorp. Both victims were learners at KW von Marees Combined School.
Her visit also comes in the wake of the brutal death of 15-year-old Beyonce Kharuxas, who was found raped and murdered at Five Rand Location over the weekend. The incidents have sparked outrage and deep concern over the growing number of child disappearances and violent crimes in Okahandja.
