Rirua Komeheke on protest demanding the release of Mac Hengari

We turn our attention to a case that has shaken the public, dominated social media, and sparked protests: the arrest of Mac-Albert Hengari.

Hengari, a controversial figure, was arrested on April 26th this year following a police sting operation in Windhoek. He faces multiple serious charges – including rape, kidnapping, and attempted bribery – some involving allegations dating back as far as 2019. His arrest has not only captured national attention but also drawn sharp criticism and support from various corners of society.

One such voice is a group calling for Hengari’s immediate release – citing what they call “dubious, unlawful, and politically motivated” circumstances surrounding his arrest. Joining us today is one of the group’s key spokespersons, Rirua Komeheke who has helped organise a planned protest to demand Hengari’s freedom.
