Renier Bougard addresses Air Namibia revival

Presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari has confirmed that President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah plans to relaunch Air Namibia between June this year and December next year.

He made this statement in response to an editorial published in The Namibian, titled “Point of Clarity, Madam President.”

Hengari outlined key steps in the revival plan, including the completion of a market study by June and the finalization of an expression of interest for a public-private partnership by August 2026.

However, one crucial question remains unanswered: What will happen to the dozens of former Air Namibia employees who lost their jobs when the airline was shut down? Will they be included in these plans?
