Oil licence row raises governance concerns in Namibia

International oil companies TotalEnergies and Petrobras have announced the acquisition of a majority stake in petroleum exploration licence 104 offshore Namibia, but the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy says no written approval had been granted.

Speaking to Desert FM, Rally for Democracy and Progress leader Mike Kavekotora says the development raises serious concerns about sovereignty, regulatory oversight and respect for Namibia’s oil governance framework.
