Mahongora Kavihuha calls for stronger support for Namibia’s teachers

World Teachers’ Day 2025 is being marked under the theme “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession.” This year’s focus highlights teamwork and shared learning as vital to strengthening education, while also raising concerns about persistent inequalities — especially limited access to professional training and support systems for teachers.

Mahongora Kavihuha, Secretary General of the Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN) reflected on the state of the profession stressing the importance of collaboration and the need for meaningful support to help educators thrive.
