John Nakuta on human rights law as an expert

In a major step toward improving transparency, efficiency and accessibility in Namibia’s judicial system, Chief Justice Peter Shivute has confirmed that the country is now rolling out an electronic case management system – or e-Justice – inspired by Uganda’s success with their own digital court platform known as ECCMIS.
This transformation will shift the Supreme Court from a slow, error-prone paper-based system into the digital age, allowing for real-time case tracking, e-filing, data sharing, and better coordination between the judiciary, prosecution, police, prisons, and other key actors in the justice system.
But beyond the technical speak — what does this really mean for justice, especially for the average citizen trying to access the courts?
