Namibia lost its position as Africa’s top-ranked country for press freedom, slipping behind South Africa. At the same time, the country has improved its global standing by six places on the World Press Freedom Index.
However, this progress comes amid growing concerns about political interference, economic pressures on independent media, and reports of harassment of journalists by government officials.
