Government Directs Institutions to Release Academic Records for Indebted Graduates, NSFAF to Provide Loans

[PODCAST]

The Ministry of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation has urged institutions of higher learning to release academic records and certificates for graduates from the April-May 2024 cohort who still have outstanding debts. In a statement, the ministry announced that the Cabinet has approved a directive for the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) to settle these outstanding debts as loans to the affected graduates. Graduates with unpaid fees are advised to first engage with NSFAF to formalize a loan agreement before collecting their academic documents or certificates. To unpack this we were joined by NANSO spokesperson Jessy Abrahams.
