GAUME STEPHANUS: Warns Oranjemund residents and visitors to avoid the Orange River, citing high water levels and powerful currents
The Oranjemund Town Council has issued a strong warning to residents and visitors to avoid the Orange River, citing dangerously high water levels and powerful currents.
In a statement released today, the council emphasized that swimming or entering the river is strictly prohibited due to life-threatening conditions. It also cautioned against approaching the riverbanks, which are unstable and risk collapsing.
Motorists were further advised to respect road closures and steer clear of areas affected by flooding.
We are now joined by councilor Gaume Stephanus to look at what’s on the ground.
