Frans Moyo: Rundu Hospital running out of health essentials
We turn our attention to a deeply concerning situation unfolding in the Kavango East region — at Rundu State Hospital. Reports have emerged that the hospital has run out of essential medical supplies, forcing patients to buy their own medicine, including malaria test kits — even as the region battles a major surge in malaria cases.
With shortages of anaesthetics, dressing materials, malaria medication, and even basic items like bandages and mosquito nets, the strain on patients and healthcare workers is undeniable. Despite assurances from the Ministry of Health that stock levels are adequate, on-the-ground realities tell a very different story.
To help us understand what’s happening on the ground, and how the community is coping with this healthcare crisis, we’re joined now by a local activist from Rundu. Frans Moyo closely follows the developments and advocates for the rights of patients and healthcare workers alike.
