Cash bouquet trend under scrutiny as Bank of Namibia issues currency warning

Cash bouquets, a popular trend that has grown into a thriving small-business industry in Namibia, are now under scrutiny after the Bank of Namibia warned that attaching banknotes to items such as flowers could be considered currency defacement.

This offence carries heavy fines or possible jail time.

Speaking to Desert FM, cash bouquet vendor and co-founder of Surprise Gifts Namibia Yuri José shared his concerns about the impact on livelihoods and the need to balance currency protection with support for small businesses.
