Namibia’s funeral industry was thrust into controversy after APV Burial lodged a formal complaint with the Namibian Competition Commission, accusing Immanuel Coffins & Caskets CC of anti-competitive practices.
The complaint alleges exclusive agreements, intimidation and restrictive arrangements that have pushed APV Burial to the brink of collapse, with losses estimated at over N$2 million.
The competition commission has confirmed receiving the complaint, and investigations are ongoing.
