Almandro Jansen unpacks Namibia’s annual inflation rate
June 16, 2025
Namibia’s annual inflation rate for May 2025 was 3.5%, down from 4.9% in May 2024 and slightly lower than 3.6% recorded in recent months.
The slowdown is mainly due to lower costs in the transport category. However, food and non-alcoholic beverages continue to drive most of the remaining inflation pressure.
On average, annual inflation between May 2024 and May 2025 was 3.8%. The year-to-date average inflation stands at 3.6%, showing that inflation has remained fairly stable despite ups and downs in certain categories.
Joining us to unpack these figures is economist Almandro Jansen from Simonis Storm.
