DESERT FM July 25, 2025
The media remains one of the most important pillars of democracy, but with freedom comes responsibility. This is where the Office of the Media Ombudsman plays a critical role upholding ethical journalism and ensuring public trust in the media landscape.
As of 23 July 2025, Namibia has a new Media Ombudsman. The Editors’ Forum of Namibia has appointed Dr. Sadrag Panduleni Shihomeka to the role for a three-year term. Dr. Shihomeka is a senior lecturer in journalism at NUST and now takes over the media watchdog role previously held by John Nakuta.
He joins us now to speak about his appointment, his priorities, and the state of media ethics in Namibia.
