•What is your role at Desert FM and what do you enjoy most about it? I am a videographer, mainly responsible for live-streaming.
•What’s the best part about working at Desert FM? The team being able to learn from each other.
•How do you stay connected to the listeners? What’s the best feedback you’ve received from them? I stay connected to the listeners by listening to my favourite show, ‘Olweendo’. I just love how they call in and engage with the presenter.
•Outside of radio, what are you passionate about? Dancing, charity work, and doing business.
•If you weren’t behind the camera, which other career would you pursue? I would probably be taking care of children, like run an orphanage, or I would be a successful businesswoman.
•What song or genre of music do you always go back to, no matter how many times you’ve heard it? Jay Melody’s ‘Nakupenda’, ‘Kunta Kinte’ by Exit, and some older R&B.
•How do you stay on top of the latest trends in music or pop culture? Through TikTok, it keeps up well with pop culture.
•What do you think makes Desert FM unique compared to other radio stations? It’s vibrant, with accurate news, and podcasts.
•How do you think our station shapes community culture? I think the type of news and information we share plays a role in shaping the narrative they have.
•In your opinion, what makes a great radio show or broad- cast? A great presenter, a show that speaks to the community, and good music.
•Have you ever made a big mistake behind the camera? How did you recover? Yes, I have. When I make a mistake I panic, but my colleague always reminds me to calm down and assures me everything will be okay.
•What drew you to this industry? Growing up I was always the photographer at school and at home. Fast forward to today, I have found a passion for film and I ended up studying television production at the College of the Arts.
•What’s your favourite local spot in town, and why? Home.
•Coffee or tea? Coffee.
•Early bird or night owl? Early bird.
•The book or the movie? Movie.
•What’s your go-to karaoke song? Anything by ‘Camp Rock’.
•If you could have dinner with any celebrity, who would it be? Dillish Mathews.
•What’s your guilty pleasure – song or movie? A good song.
