•What is your role at Desert FM? I’m a videographer dealing mostly with live-streaming and multimedia.
•What’s the best part about working at Desert FM? Being able to contribute to the platform as a team and as an individual.
•How do you stay connected to our listeners? Listeners are always excited to be informed about what’s happening as we go from place to place to cover news or entertainment. They love a good live-stream and being able to engage in real time.
•Apart from radio, what are you passionate about? Charity, and psychology (holistic health and well-being) and business studies.
•If you weren’t behind the camera, which other career would you pursue? Communication studies.
•What song or type of music do you always go back to? Traditional music, Ras Sheema, Tate Kwela and reggae songs by Lucky Dube.
•How do you stay on top of the latest trends in music or pop culture? Through social media, especially TikTok. It keeps up well with pop culture.
•What makes Desert FM unique? It’s vibrant, has accurate news, and the podcasts.
•How does our station influence culture? Radio echoes the voices of the community and surroundings. In that way it’s able to positively impact the community through the message and news it conveys.
•What makes a great radio show or broadcast? Quality sound, quality news, and quality presenters.
•Have you ever made a big mistake behind the camera, and how did you recover? Yes, and I recovered by remaining composed. Composure is everything.
•What drew you to this industry? I’ve always wanted to be in the industry of film-making, production behind the scenes, and being able to bring visions to life.
•What’s your favourite local spot in town and why? Home. Nothing slaps like being in my corner.
•Coffee or tea? Tea (rooibos).
•Early bird or night owl? Night owl.
•The book or the movie? The book.
•If you could have dinner with any celebrity, who would it be? Bonang Matheba.
•What’s your guilty pleasure, song or movie? Eish, a good song.
