Information commissioner salary sparks debate before appointment
Namibia’s soon-to-be appointed information commissioner – a role created to advance transparency under the Access to Information Act – is set to be paid about N$1.4 million annually, reportedly higher than the prime minister’s pay package, raising questions about delays and whether the remuneration is justified. Speaking on Desert FM, Frederico Links said the prolonged appointment process continues to stall accountability and full implementation of the law.
