• What is your role at Desert FM and what do you enjoy most about it? I am a news reader for Desert FM and what I love most is the constant learning aspect. Every day I read and cover stories – on air – from all over the world, from the war in Gaza and Ukraine to the lady down the street who feeds the needy. Every day I learn a little more about the world, about people, and myself in a sense.
• How would you describe your on-air style to someone who has never heard you before? Very serious, which is the opposite of who I really am. On air, I tend to be a bit more serious to appeal to the urgent nature of news and getting it out there, but in person I’d say I laugh every two minutes.
• What is one thing you love most about the listeners? They will speak out and air their views. Our listeners tune in, hear a conversation and always circle back with some feedback or comments on the issue.
• Outside of radio, what are some things you’re passion- ate about? Outside of radio, I’m passionate about poetry, books and quiet days. I love to read and write when I get the chance to.
• Early bird or night owl? Definitely an early bird. My brain works best when the world is quiet and still and when the cold morning breeze blows in through my window.
• The book or the movie? Both, but the book first. The movie just allows the book to be visual instead of imaginative.
• Coffee or tea? Coffee (it’s the only drink that matters).
• What’s your go-to karaoke song? ‘Another Sad Love Song’ by Toni Braxton.
• If you could have dinner with any celebrity, who would it be? Probably Donald Trump.
• What’s your guilty pleasure song or movie? ‘Encanto’.
